With Scan Tool

1. Connect scan tool to the diagnostic check connector.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
3. Following the scan tool manufacturer's instructions, select the "Erase Codes" option.
4. Test drive the vehicle and recheck system to see if any codes reappeared.

NOTE: The malfunction indicator (check engine) lamp should be illuminated when the ignition switch is turned to the ON position. When the engine is started, the MIL should go OFF. If the MIL remains ON, a code has been stored in the engine control module.
