Brake Signal: Description and Operation

PURPOSE/OPERATION
The anti-lock brake signal is provided to control idle speed and increase braking effect. The engine control module provides the antilock brake system control module with a 5 Volt reference signal. The engine engine control module monitors this signal. When the antilock brake system control module determines that brake control is needed, the antilock brake system control module completes the ground circuit from the engine engine control module. When this voltage drop is detected by the engine engine control module, the engine control module operates the idle speed control servo to provide effective anti-lock braking.
