Speedometer Head: Testing and Inspection

A speedometer test drum and related equipment are required for completion of the following procedure.
1. Ensure tire pressures are correct, then position vehicle on speedometer test drum.
2. On models equipped with Traction Control (TCL), place TCL switch in Off position.
3. Set parking brake, then secure vehicle as required by speedometer test equipment. Failure to do so may allow vehicle to move unexpectedly during testing.
4. Simulate a range of vehicle speeds, noting the following:
a. Do not operate clutch suddenly or change indicated speed rapidly during testing.
b. When standard indication reaches 20 mph, allowable indication range is 19-22 mph; at 40 mph, allowable range is 38-44 mph; at 60 mph, allowable range is 57-66 mph; at 80 mph, allowable range is 76-88 mph; at 100 mph, allowable range is 94-110 mph.
