Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

1. Release fuel system pressure as outlined under Technician Safety Information.
2. Drain engine coolant into an appropriate container.
3. Remove air intake plenum as outlined previously.

4. Replace intake manifold in numbered sequence shown, Fig. 12.

5. Install gaskets with protrusions in position shown, Fig. 13.
6. Tighten intake manifold mounting nuts using the following procedure:
a. Torque nuts in front bank to 2.2-3.6 ft. lbs.
b. Torque nuts in rear bank to 9-11 ft. lbs.
c. Torque nuts in front bank to 9-11 ft. lbs.
d. Repeat steps b and c one more time.
7. Apply lubricant sparingly to intake manifold mounting nuts.
