Oil Pump, Front Case, Silent Shaft & Oil Pan

NOTE: Oil pan and oil pickup tube must be removed prior to removing oil pump.

Fig. 42 Oil Pump Inspection:

1. Inspect oil pump by assembling rotor on oil pump. Ensure a 0.0039-0.0071 inch body and 0.0016-0.0037 inch side clearance, Fig. 42.
2. Ensure oil cooler bypass valve moves smoothly and dimension marked L is 1.358 inches long under normal temperature and humidity and 1.57 inches long after being dipped into oil with a temperature of 212°F.
