REVISION NOTICE:
THIS REVISED BULLETIN CONTAINS A CORRECTED PROCEDURE FOR TIGHTENING THE CYLINDER HEAD BOLTS ON THE 420A (2.0L NON-TURBO) ENGINE. IT ALSO INCLUDES UPDATED INFORMATION ON THE 4G1 (1.5L) CYLINDER HEAD BOLTS. PLEASE DISCARD THE EARLIER VERSION DATED MARCH, 1996.

PURPOSE

This bulletin provides a service manual supplement for cylinder head bolt, main bearing bolt, and connecting rod nut installation on all 1992-96 MMSA (Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America, Inc.) vehicles. To ensure proper assembly of the engine, it is extremely important to use correct bolt and nut tightening information.

If engine bolt and nut tightening information is missing from the service manual or engine overhaul manual, refer to this bulletin as a supplement. When conflicting torque information is found in the service and/or overhaul manuals, use this bulletin.
