Instalation of Camshaft & Rocker Arm

Installation procedure:






Note: Lubricate all internal parts with engine oil during reassembly.

1. Lash adjuster.
2. Rocker arm.
3. Camshaft.
a. Turn the crankshaft to bring No.1 cylinder to the top dead center.
b. Check that the rocker arm is installed correctly on the lash adjuster and valve.






c. Install the camshaft while noting the identification mark (stamped on the hexagon section).










d. Install the camshafts with their dowel pins positioned as shown in the illustration.






Note:
a. Install the bearing caps according to the identification mark and cap number. No.2, 3. and 4 bearing caps bear the front mark. Install these caps with the front mark directed in the same direction as that on the cylinder head.

b. Gradually tighten the bearing caps in two or three steps. In the final step, tighten to the specified torque. Tighten the front and rear bearing cap bolts to 20 Nm (14 ft. lbs.) and bearing cap Nos. 2, 3 and 4 to 11 Nm (8 ft. lbs.).

4. Bearing cap, No.3.
5. Bearing cap, No.4.
6. Bearing cap, No.2.
7. Bearing cap, rear.
8. Bearing cap, front.






9. Camshaft oil seal.






10. Install the circular packing with the special tool.






11. Rocker cover installation
Apply specified sealant (3M ATD Part No.8660 or equivalent) on the area specified in the illustration.
