IGNITION NOISE
Ignition noise sounds like a continuous tapping sound. It is typically heard when playing an AM radio station or when playing a cassette tape. The noise is caused by a noise coming from an ignition component in the engine room being radiated to the radio antenna.
Ignition noise may be eliminated by positioning the wiring harness as far away from the audio unit as possible.
ALTERNATOR NOISE
Alternator noise is a whining sound when engine speed is raised. The noise is caused by the alternator signal being radiated to the radio antenna and/or audio power supply. Typically this is due to a failure of one or more diodes in the rectifier bridge of the alternator.
