Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair

1. Raise rear of vehicle, then position jack stands under frame side rails to support body.
2. Remove wheel and tire assembly, then the rear brake drum assembly.
3. Disconnect muffler from exhaust pipe, then remove muffler assembly.
4. Position a jack under suspension arm, then raise suspension arm slightly.

5. Disconnect shock absorber from upper and lower mounting, Fig. 7.
6. Carefully lower jack to relieve spring tension, then remove coil spring, noting position of upper and lower spring seats.
7. Reverse procedure to install, then bleed brake system and adjust rear wheel bearings.
