INSPECTIONUsing Scan tool
Check Item: Barometric Pressure Sensor.
Data Display: Sensor pressure.
Check Conditions: Ignition switch ON.
- At altitude 0 m (0 ft): 760 mm Hg.
- At altitude 600 m (1969 ft): 710 mm Hg.
- At altitude 1200 m (3937 ft): 660 mm Hg.
- At altitude 1800 m (5906 ft): 610 mm Hg.
Harness Inspection Procedure
1. Check for continuity of the ground circuit.
- Connector disconnected
If OK - go to step 2
If not OK - Repair the harness (H6 - C50-5 12)
2. Measure the power supply voltage of the Barometric Pressure Sensor.
- Connector disconnected.
- Ignition Switch ON.
- Voltage should be 4.8 - 5.2 volts
-
If OK - go to step 3
If not OK - Repair the harness (H1 - C50-5 1)
3. Check for an open circuit, or a short circuit to ground between the Engine Control Module and the Barometric Pressure Sensor.
- Volume Air Flow Sensor connector disconnected.
- Engine Control Module connector disconnected.
If OK - END
If not OK - Repair the harness (H5 - C50-5 19)
Troubleshooting Hints
1. If the Barometric Pressure Sensor is faulty, the vehicle will experience poor driveability.
2. If the pressure of the Barometric Pressure Sensor drops greatly during high speed driving, check the air cleaner for clogging.
