A/C Signal: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION








Using Scan tool

Check Item: Air Conditioning Switch.
Data Display: Switch state.
Check Conditions: Engine idling (air compressor to be running when air conditioning switch is ON).
- With Air Conditioning Switch OFF should read OFF.
- With Air Conditioning Switch ON should read ON.

Check Item: Air Conditioning Relay.
Data Display: Air conditioning relay state.
Check Conditions: Engine idling after warm-up.
- With Air Conditioning Switch OFF should read OFF.
- With Air Conditioning Switch ON should read ON.

Harness Inspection Procedure





1. Measure the power supply voltage of the air conditioning circuit.
- Air Conditioning Switch ON.
- Engine Control Module connector disconnected.
- Ignition Switch ON.
- Voltage should read system voltage.

If OK - END.
If not OK - Check the air conditioning circuit.

Troubleshooting Hints
If the air compressor clutch magnet is not activated when the air conditioning switch is turned on during idling, faulty air conditioning control system is suspected.
