Fig. 45 Transfer Case Assembly Replacement:

1. Drain transfer oil into a suitable container.
2. Remove transfer case assembly as shown, Fig. 45, noting the following:
a. It may be necessary to disconnect front exhaust pipe to gain working clearance.
b. Move the transfer case to the left and lower the front side, then remove it from the propeller shaft.
c. Suspend the propeller shaft so that it can not be sharply bent.
d. Cover the transfer opening with tool No. MB991193, or equivalent, to prevent transaxle oil discharge and the entry of foreign objects.
3. Reverse procedure to install. Refill transfer oil.
