Diagnosis
To diagnose the condition, take the following steps:1. Raise the vehicle on a hoist.
2. Remove the left front wheel.
3. Remove the left front splash shield.
4. With a drain pan in place, remove the 10 transaxle rear cover bolts and separate the rear cover from the transaxle.
5. Inspect the rear cover inner surface for signs of contact with the Output Gear Retaining Bolt and Stopper Plate.
6. Examine the Output Gear Retaining Bolt and Lock Plate to determine if the bolt has loosened.
7. If signs of contact are found, proceed as described in the Repair Procedure that follows. If not, reassemble the transaxle and seek elsewhere for the cause of the clicking sound.
