Torsion Bar: Service and Repair

1. Remove torsion axle and arm assembly in numbered sequence shown in Fig. 22, noting the following:
a. Remove caliper assembly and support to frame using suitable wire.
b. Remove rear hub as outlined under TRANSMISSIONS CLUTCHES DIFFERENTIALS AXLES AND DRIVE SHAFTS/AXLES, DRIVE SHAFTS/COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR PROCEDURES/REAR AXLE HUB.
c. Raise and support torsion axle and arm assembly.
d. Remove shock absorber mounting bolts and trailing arm mounting bolts.
e. Lower torsion axle and arm assembly slowly then remove from vehicle.
2. Reverse procedure to install, installing lateral rod mounting bolt to axle beam as shown, Fig. 23.
