Suspension: Service and Repair

1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove rear wheels.
2. Remove upper shock absorber attaching nuts, then the brake hose bracket from torsion axle and arm assembly.

3. Disconnect parking brake cable from caliper, then remove rear brake caliper assembly and secure out of way Fig. 12.
4. Remove center exhaust pipe and gaskets.
5. Remove propeller shaft installation nuts and bolts. Place mating marks on differential shaft and propeller shaft flange yoke, to be used for installation reference.
6. Support differential case with a suitable jack.
7. Remove self-locking nut from differential support member, then the support member.
8. Remove crossmember bracket attaching nuts and bolts, then the bracket.
9. Remove parking brake cable, then disconnect rear speed sensor electrical connector, if applicable.
10. Lower jack, then remove rear suspension assembly from body. Ensure propeller shaft does not bend excessively and joint does not receive any shock.
11. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Install propeller shaft to the differential carrier, ensuring mating marks are aligned.
b. Install parking brake cable, then connect a parking brake cable end to parking brake lever. Pry up the parking brake lever, then install other cable end at this time.
