FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER NET WEIGHT

PURPOSE

Mitsubishi Motor Sales of America Inc. has received comments from dealers regarding the net weight of the Mitsubishi Fuel Injector Cleaner. Some dealers are returning the cleaner stating "the can is only 1/2 full." This bulletin is sent to inform Technicians, Service Managers, and Parts Managers that the Mitsubishi Fuel Injector Cleaner is designed to "feel 1/2 full."

DETAILS

Mitsubishi Fuel Injector Cleaner is a unique, patented product which is very different from other cleaners on the market. It has a very light density which means it has a greater volume per pound than other products. The cleaner is also pressurized with a special propellant that requires a large headspace in the can. These factors, plus vehicle test data, were taken into account to develop the appropriate fill weight for the cleaner. Mitsubishi Fuel Injector Cleaner is designed to run Mitsubishi vehicles for approximately five minutes. This amount of product is all that is required to clean the injectors.

The net weight is 198 grams or 7 ounces. However, the can is oversized, which has led to the confusion regarding half full product. All technicians should now be aware that the fuel injection cleaner container feels 1/2 full by design, not as a result of being filled incorrectly.
