Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments

1. Connect the scan tool to the data link connector.
2. If a scan tool is not used, perform the following operation.

- Disconnect the connectors of the throttle position sensor and connect the lest harness set (special tool, MB991348) between the disconnected connectors.
- Connect the digital Voltmeter between sensor output terminal (2) and sensor ground terminal (4).
3. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position (but do not start the engine).
4. Check the throttle position sensor output Voltage. When a scan tool is used, select Item No.14 to read the throttle position sensor output Voltage.

Standard value: 0.48 - 0.52 Volts

5. If the output Voltage is not within the specified range, remove the throttle body and loosen the throttle position sensor mounting bolts. then turn the throttle position sensor body to make adjustment. After adjustment tighten the bolts positively.

NOTE: Turning the throttle position sensor body clockwise increases the output Voltage.

6. Turn the ignition switch to the "OFF" position.
7. If the diagnostic trouble code is output while adjusting the throttle position sensor, use a scan tool to erase the diagnostic trouble code, or disconnect the battery cable from the negative terminal of the battery for more than 10 seconds and then reconnect the cable. (This will cancel the memory of the failure code due to throttle position sensor adjustment.
