Crankshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE/OPERATION
The crank angle of each cylinder is detected by the light emitting diode and photo diode. According to the signals sent from the crankshaft position sensor the engine control module calculates the engine RPM and amount of intake air per stroke and the ignition advance angle.
