Fuel Injector: Description and Operation
PURPOSE/OPERATIONThe fuel injectors sprays a precise amount of highly atomized fuel into the engine intake system to insure efficient combustion of the air/fuel mixture. When current is applied to the solenoid coil, the valve lifts up and pressurized fuel is injected close to the intake valve. Due to the lift of the needle valve and fuel pressure being constant fuel quantity is determined by the duration of time current is applied to the coil.
