Cruise Control Servo Cable: Adjustments
1. Turn all accessories off, warm up engine until specified idle speed is reached, then turn engine off.2. Remove air cleaner, then depress accelerator pedal completely, ensuring throttle valve operates smoothly from full close to full open.
3. Remove actuator cover.
4. Check the inner cable (throttle valve side) for too much or too little slack. Cable deflection should measure 0.04-0.08 inch. If not within specified limits, adjust as follows:
Fig. 8 Speed Control Inner Cable Adjustment (Throttle Valve Side):
a. Loosen the adjustment bolts at the air intake plenum side and free inner cable, Fig. 8. Adjust cable to specified limits. Excessive cable deflection will cause vehicle speed to drop; excessive cable tension will cause idle speed to increase.
b. After adjustment of the cable, ensure throttle lever contacts idle position switch.
5. Adjust cable (accelerator pedal side) as follows:
a. Loosen cable locknut.
Fig. 10 Speed Control Inner Cable Adjustment (Accelerator Pedal Side):
b. Adjust inner cable deflection to 0-0.04 inch on models with manual transaxle or 0.08-0.12 inch on models with automatic transaxle, then tighten locknut, Fig. 10. Use caution not to decrease play in cable B (throttle valve side).
Fig. 11 Throttle Lever Measurement:
c. Ensure throttle lever travels distance shown in Fig. 11.
d. Ensure throttle valve fully opens and closes when operating accelerator pedal.
e. Install air cleaner.
