Power Steering Pump: Testing and Inspection

1. Disconnect pressure hose then connect pressure gauge tool Nos. 09572-33100 and 09572-21200 or equivalent, Fig. 3.
2. Bleed air from system as outlined under MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES/BLEEDING SYSTEM.
3. Start engine and turn steering wheel from stop to stop until fluid temperature reaches 122°F.
4. Increase engine speed to 1000 RPM.
5. Close the shutoff valve and read system pressure. Pressure with valve closed should be as specified in SPECIFICATIONS/PRESSURES, VACUUM, AND TEMPERATURE SPECIFICATIONS/POWER STEERING PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS. Do not allow valve to be closed for more than 10 seconds.
6. Remove gauge tools and bleed system.
