91mitsubishi07

NO. TSB-91-22-012

DATE June, 1991

MODEL 1990-91 Eclipse

SUBJECT: MANUAL TRANSAXLE SHIFT CABLE RATTLE

TSB Revision 91-22-012

PURPOSE

This Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) provides a re-emphasis on the importance of performing a manual transaxle shift cable adjustment if rattling or buzzing is heard.

AFFECTED MODELS

1990-91 Eclipse equipped with manual transaxle.

DESCRIPTION

Some M/T equipped Eclipses may emit a rattling or buzzing noise from their shift cables, expecially while in 3rd gear. To correct this condition, perform a complete adjustment of the shift cables. Instructions for the adjustment procedure can be found in the 1991 Eclipse Service Manual, Volume 1, Pages 22-16 and 22-17.

When properly adjusted, the shift cables should not rattle. Adjustment also contributes to a smoother shift feel.

Ensure the adjustment has been performed properly before further M/T diagnosis is attempted.
