Fig. 4 Clutch Pedal Freeplay & Distance To Firewall When Engaged:

1. Measure clutch pedal height (A) and clutch pedal clevis pin play (B), Fig. 1.
2. Clutch pedal height (A) should be 6.9 - 7.1 inches.
3. Clevis pin play (B) should be .04 - .12 inch.
4. If either (A) or (B) are not within the correct range, adjust as follows:
a. On models less cruise control, turn and adjust the bolt so that pedal height is correct, then secure by tightening locknut, Fig. 2.
b. On models with cruise control, disconnect clutch switch connector and turn the switch for standard clutch pedal height, then lock with the locknut.
c. On all models, turn pushrod, Fig. 3, to adjust clutch pedal clevis pin play to proper value, then secure pushrod with locknut. When adjusting clutch pedal clevis pin play, ensure pushrod is not pushed toward the master cylinder.
5. Upon completing the adjustments above, confirm that clutch pedal freeplay (C) is .2 - .5 inch. In addition, confirm that the distance (D) between the clutch pedal pad and the firewall when clutch pedal is disengaged, Fig. 4, is 2.2 inch or more.
6. If clutch pedal freeplay (C) and distance (D) are not within the correct range, check for air in hydraulic system or a defective clutch or master cylinder assembly.
