BOLT INSTALLATION - SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE

PURPOSE

This bulletin adds F4A3 and W4A3 automatic transaxle differential front bearing cap bolt installation instructions to certain 1991 service manuals. F4A3 and W4A3 automatic transaxles are used in 1991 turbo-equipped vehicles (3000GT, Eclipse GSX and Galant GSX).

Install the short bolt to the side of the bearing cap which is marked with "S" and the long bolt to the side marked with "L". Also, the "S" side of the bearing cap must be on the same side of the case as the speedometer gear mounting hole.

Please make the indicated service manual updates as shown on the following page and as reference to this TSB, please write this TSB number in the TSB revision box on the affected service manual pages.

TYPICAL SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE

As shown below please write "INSTALL THE SHORT BOLT TO THE SIDE OF THE BEARING CAP WHICH IS MARKED WITH "S" AND THE LONG BOLT TO THE SIDE MARKED WITH "U", write in " "S" SIDE TOWARDS SPEEDOMETER GEAR MOUNTING HOLE", an "S" towards the top of the illustration and "U" towards the bottom. Finally, please draw in the arrows as shown.
