1. Clean area around kickdown servo switch.
2. Remove snap ring.
3. Remove kickdown servo switch.
4. To prevent rotation of piston, engage pawl of kickdown servo wrench tool No. MD998918, or equivalent into notch of piston and attach wrench using adapter tool No. MD998916-1-01, or equivalent, Fig. 5. Do not press in piston with special tool. When mounting adapter on transaxle case, tighten by hand only. Do not over torque.
5. Loosen locknut to before the V groove of adjusting rod and tighten kickdown adjusting inner tool No. MD998916-3-01, or equivalent until it contacts locknut, Fig. 6.
6. Engage kickdown adjusting outer tool No. MD998916-2-01, or equivalent on locknut. Rotating outer cylinder counterclockwise and inner cylinder clockwise, lock the locknut and inner tool.
7. Attach torque wrench to inner tool and repeat tightening and returning at a torque of 7.2 ft. lbs. two times. Then torque to 3.6 ft. lbs. Loosen inner tool 2-2 3/4 turns.
8. Unlock inner tool from locknut by rotating outer cylinder clockwise and the inner cylinder counterclockwise. When unlocking apply equal force to both tools.
9. Tighten locknut by hand until locknut contacts piston. Tighten locknut to 18-23 ft. lbs.
10. Remove kickdown servo wrench and adapter and install a plug at the low-reverse pressure port.
