Magnetic Switch Return Test

Fig. 9 Testing Magnetic Switch Return Function:

1. Disconnect field coil wire from ``M'' terminal of magnetic switch, Fig. 9.
2. Connect a 12 volt battery between ``M'' terminal and body ground. This test must be performed in less than 10 seconds to prevent coil from burning out.
3. Pull pinion out and release. If pinion quickly returns to its original position, magnetic switch is operating correctly. If pinion does not return, replace magnetic switch.
