Thermal Vacuum Valve: Service and Repair
Thermo Valve Location:
REMOVAL
CAUTION: The vacuum fittings on the valve are easily broken. Use care upon removal.
1. Drain approximately 1 gallon of coolant from the radiator drain plug.
2. Mark and remove the vacuum hoses from the valve.
3. Using a suitable socket, remove the valve.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean and dry the threads on the thermo valve and on the engine.
2. Apply sealant to the threads of the thermo valve.
Specified sealant
3M NUT Locking Part No. 4171 or equivalent.
3. Install and torque the thermo valve.
Torque value
15 - 30 ft.lbs (20 - 40 N-m)
4. Reconnect the vacuum hoses.
5. Refill the cooling system and check for leaks.
