SUBJECT: FUEL PUMP CHECK CONNECTOR
TSB Revision TSB-91-13-012
PURPOSE
This bulletin revises the fuel pump check connector circuit schematics and provides diagnostic procedures for some early 1991 production Eclipse vehicles which were manufactured without a fuel pump check connector.
Please make the indicated service manual updates as shown on page 2 and as reference to this TSB, please write this TSB number in the TSB revision box on the affected service manual pages.
Fig. 3:
DETAILS
1. The 1991 Eclipse Service Manual shows the fuel pump check connector being connected to the fuel pump power wire after the MPI Control Relay. This is incorrect. The check connector is actually connected between the MPI control relay and the MPI control unit. Not shown in the Service Manual is terminal 13 (Connector C-66), which is connected to the MPI control unit. Shown in Fig. 3 is the corrected schematic diagram.
2. Some early 1991 production Eclipse vehicles were manufactured without a fuel pump check connector. To check the fuel pump on these vehicles it is necessary to introduce 12 volts to the proper terminal of the MPI control relay. Refer to Fuel Pump Activating Procedure.
