Cruise Control Servo Cable: Adjustments
Fig. 43 Wiper Relay Continuity Chart:
Fig. 44 Front Wiper Motor Connector Identification:
1. Turn all accessories Off, warm up engine until specified idling speed is reached, then turn engine off.
2. Remove air cleaner, then depress accelerator pedal completely, ensuring throttle valve operates smoothly from full close to full open.
3. Remove actuator cover. Fig. 43.
4. On models equipped with automatic transaxle or with a SOHC engine, turn the ignition switch to the On position for 15 seconds, ensuring throttle lever returns.
5. On all models, check the inner cable (throttle valve side) for too much or too little slack. Cable deflection should measure .04-.08 inch. If not within specified limits, adjust as follows:
a. Loosen the adjustment bolts at the air intake plenum side and free inner cable Fig. 44, Adjust cable to specified limits. Excessive deflection of the cable will cause the vehicle speed to drop. Excessive tension of the cable will cause the idling speed to increase.
b. After adjustment of the cable, ensure throttle lever contacts the idle position switch.

6. Adjust cable (accelerator pedal side) as follows:
a. Loosen cable locknut.
b. Adjust inner cable deflection to 0-.04 inch on models with manual transaxle or .08-.12 inch on models with automatic transaxle, then tighten adjusting bolt Fig. 45, or locknut Fig. 46. Use caution not to decrease play in cable B (throttle valve side).
c. Ensure throttle lever moves the distance shown in Fig. 47.
f. Ensure throttle valve fully opens and closes when operating accelerator pedal.
g. Install air cleaner.
