Status Monitor Installation

Figure 4:

Manual Transmission Models:

Remove the coin holder in the upper left corner of the floor console and CAREFULLY file the opening to accept the Status Monitor (Figure 4).

Install the Status Monitor into the opening with the switch facing toward the shifter.

Figure 5:

Using the Status Monitor label from the parts kit, remove the protective backing from the label and apply the label to the Status Monitor (Figure 5).

Figure 6:

Automatic Transmission Models:

Place the Status Monitor Mounting Pod's top edge touching and parallel to the base of the instrument cluster housing. Align the right edge with the matching edge of the instrument cluster mounting screw recess (Figure 6).

Figure 7:

Drill four 1/8" holes through the mounting pod housing screw holes. Take the mounting screws from the parts kit, insert and tighten (Figure 7).

CAUTION: The backside of the dash is hard plastic. Do not overtighten the mounting screws. Overtightening will deform the dash pad or strip out the screw holes.

Figure 8:

Using a 1/4" drill bit, drill a hole through the dash panel for the harness connector. As shown in Figure 8, the hole should be drilled inside the mounting pod housing, slightly to the right of center.

Carefully insert the wires from the Status Monitor into the drilled hole in the dash.

Insert the Status Monitor into the Mounting

Pod housing.
NOTE: If the Status Monitor does not fit securely into the mounting pod housing, enlarge the drilled hole.
