Vehicle Speed Sensor system:

The vehicle speed sensor, located in the speedometer head, uses a magnetic reed type switch. As the speedometer cable turns, the switch turns on and off (opening and closing the circuit). The ECU senses the speed at which this happens as the vehicle speed.
