Procedures

Checking Fluid Level

With vehicle on level surface, start engine and operate at idle speed. With parking brake applied, place selector lever in Neutral, then remove dipstick and check fluid level. Transmission should be at operating temperature when checking fluid level (120-180°F). Fluid level should be between the Add and Full lines on the dipstick. If necessary, add fluid of the type labeled Mitsubishi Plus to bring fluid level within Add and Full lines on dipstick.

Changing Fluid

The automatic transmission fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles on these units. When refilling transmission, add only automatic transmission fluid of the type labeled Mitsubishi Plus.
1. Raise and support front of vehicle, then position drain pan under transmission and remove drain located at bottom of differential and allow transmission to drain.
2. Install drain plug, then add 4.2 quarts of Mitsubishi Plus automatic transmission fluid through the transmission dipstick hole.
3. Start engine and check fluid level as described under ``Checking Fluid Level.''
