PURPOSE

Beginning with the Effective Production Date below, a dynamic damper has been added to the steering wheel assembly of 1987 Precis vehicles to reduce idle vibration from the steering wheel (Figure 1). If a customer complains about steering wheel vibration at idle, replace the steering wheel assembly and horn pad assembly and install the dynamic damper. This bulletin contains assembly diagrams and parts information for the new steering wheel. As reference to this bulletin, attach the red lettered sticker to page 560-6 of the 1987 Precis Service Manual.

DYNAMIC DAMPER REMOVAL PROCEDURES

After removing the horn pad assembly (Figure 2), remove the steering wheel mounting nut and lock washer. Remove the dynamic damper as shown in Figure 3.
