Thermostatic Air Cleaner: Testing and Inspection

1. Remove the air cleaner cover and air duct.
2. Run the engine at idle and verify that when the air temperature inside the air cleaner is below 30 degrees C or 86 degrees F that the cold air inlet is closed and that when the air temperature inside the air cleaner is above 45 degrees C or 113 degrees F that the cold air inlet side is open, Fig. 77. Note that it may be necessary to apply heat with a hair dryer or heat gun and/or to cool the thermo sensor with compressed air, Fig. 77.
