SUBJECT
Howling or Whistling Noise from the Front Axle

MODEL
R60 produced to 5/2012

SITUATION
A howling or whistling noise can be heard from the front axle area while driving at speeds between 35 and 75 mph.

CAUSE
Drain holes in the front sub-frame cross member may make noise as turbulent air travels under the vehicle.

PROCEDURE





Install one sealing plug only (P/N 51 71 3 402 868) into either the left or right drain hole (1).

Note:
Do not plug both drain holes.
