Noise from Steering Column when Turning or Adjusting Height

SITUATION
A squeaking noise is heard from the area around the steering column when turning or adjusting its height.
CAUSE
Material contact between the upper steering column bearing inner race and the plastic sleeve
PROCEDURE
Remove and install the lower instrument panel trim; refer to Repair Instruction 51 45 xxx, "Removing and installing bottom left dashboard trim panel."
Lubricate the plastic sleeve with lubricant (P/N 83 23 2 327 735). Make sure that when spraying, the steering column is turned at least 360 degrees, and the plastic sleeve is coated with the lubricant at the transition to the inner race of the bearing.
No adhesive lubricant should be sprayed into the grooved ball bearing.
Part replacement will not resolve the problem.

Labor operation code 51 45 180 is a Main labor operation. If you are using a Main labor code for another repair, use the Plus code labor operation 51 45 680 instead.
