Engine Controls - Hesitation Accelerating Between 3000-4000 RPM

SUBJECT
Hesitation or Jerking Is Felt When Accelerating Between 3000 - 4000 rpm

MODEL
R60 with the N18 engine produced to 6/30/2011

SITUATION
A hesitation or jerking is intermittently felt when accelerating under higher loads between 3000 - 4000 rpm.

No DME faults are stored.

CAUSE
DME software error

CORRECTION
Do not replace any parts.

A DME software solution was introduced into production beginning 7/1/2011.

Vehicle integration (new): R056-11-07-510 or a more recent version

[NEW] Start diagnostics and follow the test plan implemented into ISTA/D 2.30.0 and later, which can be found with the following path:

[NEW] Activities / Information search / Functional structure / 01 Drive Engine electronics MEVD / [!] Current fault patterns / Engine speed variations/engine jerks.

If programming is required, use only the latest version of ISTA/P.

Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.

[NEW] Note:
When the ISTA system message displays: Battery voltage only "XX.XX" V. Please connect charger. Please note the displayed battery voltage reading in the repair order comments section. This documentation is not necessary when part of an approved Technical Service repair procedure; the battery charger is required to be attached before performing the Vehicle Test.

WARRANTY INFORMATION
[NEW] Covered under the terms of the MINI New Passenger Car Limited Warranty or the MINI NEXT Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty.

[NEW] Specific eligible repairs may also be covered by the terms of the Federal, State or MINI Emissions Warranty.

[NEW] The MINI NEXT Certified Pre-Owned Limited Warranty applies to MINI NEXT vehicles that are still within the MINI NEXT coverage period, but beyond the Emissions Warranty coverage that applies.

Labor operation code 00 00 006 is a Main labor operation. If you are using a Main labor code for another repair, use the Plus code labor operation 00 00 556 instead.

Refer to KSD2 for the corresponding flat rate unit (FRU) allowance. Enter the Chassis Number, which consists of the last 7 digits of the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). Click on the "Search" button, and then enter the applicable flat rate labor operation in the FR code field

If a control module fails to program correctly or initializations are required, the additional work must be claimed with separate labor operations under the defect code listed above, refer to KSD2.
