For vehicles with N14/N18 engines produced from January 31, 2007
SITUATION
The bonnet air grill can deform due to the high heat from the engine turbocharger.
PROCEDURE
If the vehicle is in the workshop for a warped or damaged bonnet air grill or an accessory installation of a chrome or carbon fiber grill, you must install a heat shield insulator to prevent any future failures.
1. The thermal insulation for the air inlet grill (51 48 2 183 986) comes complete with two push-type pins for easy installation.
2. Open the bonnet and install the heat shield by inserting the curved end with notches into the rear opening of the air grill. If the heat shield notches line up properly, the shield will slide into the air grill completely. The two open holes in the bonnet will then align with the shield, allowing you to insert the two push-pins.
