SUBJECT
MINI Radio Boost CD Is Resetting Itself and Audio Malfunctions
MODEL
R55 (Cooper Clubman, Cooper S Clubman, John Cooper Works Clubman)
R56 (Cooper, Cooper S, John Cooper Works)
R57 (Cooper Convertible, Cooper S Convertible, John Cooper Works Convertible)
R60 (Cooper Countryman, Cooper S Countryman, Cooper S Countryman All4)
Vehicles produced from 08/2010 to 03/2011 with option 6FC (Radio MINI Boost CD)
SITUATION
Intermittently the radio is resetting by itself, the display is blank, and the audio output makes a loud popping noise or is inoperative.
CAUSE
Internal fault in the radio
CORRECTION
Perform diagnostics using the latest ISTA version.
Note:
When the ISTA system message displays: Battery voltage only "XX.XX" V. Connect charger.
Please note the displayed battery voltage reading in the repair order comments section.
Important:
Fault Code "0xABEB: Error in connection from Diversity to Antennas" can be ignored for this issue; no need to perform the test module.
If no other fault code besides "0xABEB" is stored, replace the radio and program the vehicle.
Note:
When the condition described above exists, there will be no applicable test plan to generate a corresponding DIAGCODE.
Note that ISTA/P will automatically reprogram and code all programmable control modules that do not have the latest software.
