Replacing Tensioning Device for Alternator Drive Belt

11 28 020 Replacing tensioning device for alternator drive belt (N18)





Warning!
Tensioning device subject to spring bias (danger of injury!).





Necessary preliminary work:
^ Bring front panel into service position.
^ Loosen the oxygen sensor cable.





Pretension the tensioning device (1) with a tool (2) in direction of arrow.

Press in retaining pin (3) in direction of arrow and hold.

Release tool (2) slowly and secure the retaining pin (3) in position.

Note:
The roll pin (3) holds the tensioning device (1) at preload.





Unfasten screws (2).

Tightening torque:11 28 1AZ.

Remove tensioning device (3).





Installation note:
Turn the tensioning device (1) with the tool (2) in direction of arrow.

The roll pin (3) is pre-tensioned with a spring and is automatically relieved during unlocking.





Assemble engine.
