Removing and Installing Radiator
17 11 000 Removing and installing radiator (N14, N18)
Special tools required:
WARNING:
Risk of scalding.
Only perform this repair work after engine has cooled down.
Necessary preliminary work:
- Switch off ignition.
- Drain coolant.
- Remove front bumper panel.
- For vehicles with air conditioning only:
Remove the support for the front bumper trim.
IMPORTANT: Make sure without fail that coolant hoses are correctly routed, risk of damage by sharp edges or abrasion.
For vehicles with air conditioning only:
Release the mounting bolts of the refrigerant lines (1) on the front panel.
NOTE: Illustration shows N12 engine.
For vehicles with air conditioning only:
Release screws and remove holder on left and right.
Carefully tilt capacitor (1) towards front.
IMPORTANT:
Secure capacitor without fail against falling out and against bending of lines.
Bent lines can cause leaks.
Carefully tilt radiator behind towards front until coolant hoses are accessible.
Carefully tilt radiator toward front until coolant hoses are accessible.
Release the spring straps of coolant hoses (1) with special tool 17 2 052 and detach.
Release the spring straps from the lower coolant hose (1) using special tool 17 2 051.
Carefully feed out radiator (2) towards top and remove.
For vehicles with air conditioning only:
When feeding out the radiator, make sure that the capacitor is not damaged.
