Carpet: Service and Repair






51 47 314 REmoving And Installing/Replacing Carpet For Passenger Compartment







Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove both front seats
- Remove airbag control unit
- Remove rear storage compartment holder
- Remove both inner door sill cover strips
- Remove rear seat
- Remove lower trim from instrument panel
- Remove accelerator pedal module
- Detach side trim panels at bottom

R55 only:
- Remove cover on left entrance







R55 with storage compartment package only:
Remove lashing eyes on left/right:
- Unfasten screw (1)
- Tightening torque 51 71 9AZ.
- Remove cover (2)
- Turn lashing eye (3) through 90° and feed out







Equipment version with TV/telephone:
Release screws (1) and remove cover (2).







Release screws (1) and remove cover (2).







Release trim (1) from retainers (2) and remove towards inside.







Release screw (1) and remove trim (2).







Release screws (1 and 2).
Take off holder (3).







Remove carpet (1) first at rear towards top.
Pull back carpet (1) under heating and A/C unit (2).

NOTE:
- A cut (3) is already provided in carpet (1).
- Pay attention to cable when removing carpet (1).
- If necessary, cut carpet (1) to feed out cable.

Installation:
Make sure openings for air duct and attachment points are correctly positioned.
