SITUATION
The front side windows can make a squeaking noise when operated.
PROCEDURE
Confirm the noise is coming from the front window regulator, and remove the regulator using Repair Instruction 51 33 000.
1. Locate the nylon guide clips (1) on the window regulator, and replace the clips using the following steps.
2. Turn the window regulator (1) over to expose the slider.
3. Pull the slider (1) outwards, and unclip the nylon guides (2) from the rail (3).
4. Use a protective rag (3), and lay the slider (1) on the rail (2).
5. Use a straight blade screwdriver (2), and pry out both clips (1).
6. Insert a new clip (2) into the top recess of the slider (1), and push down firmly until it snaps in securely. Use the same guide replacement procedure for the other end of the slider.
Important Repair Procedure Safety
Note:
Cut-resistant gloves must be used to prevent injury when performing step 7.
7. Using a sharp razor knife, cut off the corner of the lower bump stop (1) at a 45-degree angle.
8. Clip the slider (1) back into the rail (2) by folding it upwards.
9. Check that the bump stop (1) is contacting the rail (2). Clean the rail and apply a small amount of grease to both rails. Repeat the same procedure for the opposite slider.
10. After all four guide clips are installed into the sliders of both rails, clean and lightly grease the rails. Install the regulator, and quality check the repair by cycling the window up and down for noise-free and proper operation.
