SUBJECT
N16 - Poor or Fluctuating Idle After an Engine Start
MODEL
R55, R56, R57, and R60 with the N16 engine produced 10/21/10 to 12/1/2010
SITUATION
The engine idle quality is rough or fluctuating after the engine is started.
This can occur regardless of engine temperature, but may be more noticeable when cold.
[NEW] No DME faults are stored and only cars at a current integration level of R056-10-11-511 are affected.
CAUSE
DME software error
[NEW] CORRECTION
Do not replace any parts.

Note:
When the ISTA system message displays:
Battery voltage only "XX.XX" V. Please connect charger.
Please note the displayed battery voltage reading in the repair order comments section.
The DME software solution was introduced into production (integration R056-10-11-512) beginning in December 2010.
Using only ISTA/D 2.26 or newer, please complete the test modules under the following path:
Activities / Information search / Functional structure / 01 Drive / MEV engine electronics / [!] Current fault patterns / Engine jerking and/or idle speed fluctuations
