Removing and Installing Radiator



17 11 000 Removing And Installing Radiator (N12, N16)

Special tools required:







WARNING:
Risk of scalding.
Only perform this repair work after engine has cooled down.

Necessary preliminary work:
- Switch off ignition.
- Remove front bumper trim panel.
- Drain coolant.
- For vehicles with air
conditioning only:
Remove the bumper trim support from the front.

IMPORTANT: Make sure without fail that coolant hoses are correctly routed, risk of damage by sharp edges or abrasion.







For vehicles with air conditioning only:
Release the mounting bolts of the refrigerant lines (1) on the front panel.







For vehicles with air conditioning only:
Loosen the screws and carefully tilt the capacitor (1) towards the front.

IMPORTANT:
Secure capacitor without fail against falling out and against bending of lines.
Bent lines can cause leaks.







Unclip radiator (1) at top left and right and tilt towards front.

NOTE:
Figure shows vehicle with air conditioning.

Release spring strap of lower coolant hose (1) with special tool 17 2 051 from cooler (2).







Loosen the spring straps of both coolant hoses (1) with special tool 17 2 052.
Detach coolant hoses (1), carefully feed out radiator (2) towards top and remove.

For vehicles with air conditioning only:
When removing the cooler, make sure that the capacitor is not damaged.
