Crankshaft sensor

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
Sensor supply voltage 4.8 .. 5.2 V
engine speed > 400 rpm
Camshaft signal tested and plausible
Terminal condition: Terminal 15
Voltage condition:
DME operating range

Condition for fault memory entry
No signal for 3 camshaft revolutions

Action in service
1. Check signal wire for short to positive, ground, open wire
(ignition off)
2. Check voltage of sensor's power supply (4.5 to 5.5 V)
(ignition on)
3. Check plug-in contacts (intermittent open)
4. Inspect the sensor's installation (excessive/inadequate gap
relative to the reluctor ring, loose bolt)
5. Replace sensor
