Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
580 < nmot < 6500
barometric pressure > 740 hPa
after engine start
Terminal condition: Terminal 15
Voltage condition:
none

Condition for fault memory entry
200 crankshaft revolutions

Action in service
1. If any faults or faults related to the mixture, VANOS,
lambda control/oxygen sensor, fuel sensor, camshaft control
or injection valves are present, repair these first.
2. Spark plug: Visual inspection (ceramic cracks, black
electrodes, electrode gap, etc.), replace as indicated.
3. Electrical check on wiring harness, check contacts
(corrosion, damage to insulation).
4. Check ignition coil for corrosion and cracks, replace as
indicated.

Fault effect and breakdown warning
The engine reverts to its limp-home program, continued
vehicle operation is possible but drivability is restricted,
because power is reduced the driver should refrain from
passing maneuvers.
