Fault description
Fuel level sensor: Fuel consumption rate does not correlate
with change in fuel level

Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
Engine running
At least 6 liters of fuel must be consumed
Terminal condition: Terminal 15
Voltage condition:
none

Condition for fault memory entry
20 sec.

Action in service
If the fault is continuously present or has multiple log entries
respond by replacing the fuel level sensor

Fault effect and breakdown warning
Tank may be empty. Please refuel using fuel canister and
proceed to nearest service station. Then proceed to BMW
Service facility.
- Fuel gauge fails to read full after refueling.
- Tank is empty although gauge indicates that fuel is still
present.
