Condition for fault identification
Test condition:
VANOS adaptation finished -> Overrun phase, engine speed
> 2000 for 4 sec.
Terminal condition: Terminal 15
Voltage condition:
none
Condition for fault memory entry
none
Action in service
1. Check valve timing (vse_sprs to vse_spri)
2. Check chain length/tension
3. Perform system test with tester
4. Check reluctor position
5. Inspect VANOS valve for contamination
Switch mutual positions of camshaft solenoid valves
If this is successful: Replace intake-side solenoid valve
6. No improvement after 5.: Switch mutual positions of
VANOS units. If this is successful: Replace intake-side
VANOS unit
