Campaign - Split Door Trim Strip Replacement
SI M51 12 08Body Equipment
November 2008
Technical Service
PERFORM THE PROCEDURE OUTLINED IN THIS SERVICE INFORMATION ON ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES BEFORE CUSTOMER DELIVERY OR THE NEXT TIME THEY ARE IN THE SHOP FOR MAINTENANCE OR REPAIRS.
SUBJECT
Service Action: Replace Split Door Trim Strips
MODEL
R55 (Cooper Clubman, Cooper S Clubman)
SITUATION
The integrated rubber seal on the chrome trim strip of both rear split doors, immediately below the rear windows, may become loose and separate from the trim strip itself. This is a purely aesthetic flaw, as this part has no sealing properties.
CAUSE
Poor adhesion of the rubber sealing strip to the trim strip
AFFECTED VEHICLES
This Service Action involves R55 vehicles produced up to 9/16/08. Not every car in this production range will be affected, as some have already had improved parts installed at the respective Vehicle Distribution Centers.
In order to determine whether a specific vehicle is affected by this Service Action, it will be necessary to utilize the "Service Menu" of DCSnet (Dealer Communication System) or the Key Reader. Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the corrective action or take no further action.
The chassis number ranges shown above are only for informational purposes, and are not to be considered as the only deciding factor.
PROCEDURE
Replace both split door trim strips per Repair Instruction RA 51 13 460.
NOTE:
It is not necessary to remove the wiper arms to replace this trim.

LABEL INSTRUCTIONS
This Service Action has been assigned code number 40. After the vehicle has been checked and/or corrected, obtain a label (MD 20-036) and:
A. Emboss your MINI dealer warranty number in the middle of the label (1);
B. Punch out code number 40 (2), printed on the label; and
C. Affix the label to the B-pillar as shown.
If the vehicle already has a label from a previous Service Action/Recall Campaign, affix the new label next to the old one. Do not affix one label on top of another one, because a number from an underlying label could appear in the punched-out hole of the new label.
